Ep. 022 – TFFP: National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983)

Mall Twin Ad - National Lampoon's VacationIn this episode of The Forgotten Flix Podcast, we’re on vacation with Clark W. Griswold and his disfunctional clan in National Lampoon’s Vacation! That’s right, this week it’s all about the comedy classic starring Chevy Chase, Beverly DeAngelo, Anthony Michael Hall, and Randy Quaid! Don’t forget it was written by the legendary John Hughes (based on a personal essay he wrote for National Lampoon Magazine called “Vacation ’58”– you can check it out here) and directed by Ghostbusters-alum Harold Ramis!

And as always we have our movie recommendations in the form of 6 Flix Picks: When road trips go horribly wrong!

So, check it out and let us know what you think! You can send your feedback to or leave a voice mail message at 206.203.0491. And be sure to leave us a review on iTunes! Click here to visit our iTunes page.

Check us out next week ’cause we’re having One Crazy Summer (1986)!

Great episode guys and I’m not saying that just because I’m in it and that you poke a little fun at me. (I enjoy that! It makes me feel welcome and at home!) To add to the creepiness-factor I actually checked further and apparantly the saxophone dude was a member of the band for 15 years… and look what I found:
Maybe you can get him to play at your next family-reunion, Jason? 😉

Hi Peter– You are always welcome here (and I’m glad you took our good-natured ribbing as such 🙂 ).

I checked out Mr. Cappello’s site. All joking aside, he’s really talented. And as far as him playing Jason’s FR, well, I hear they’ve got the ZZ Top cover band called “Soup in Our Beards” booked up for the next decade! 😉

Great episode guys. You guys had way too much fun when you recorded this one! The ugly tree discussion had me laughing out loud. 🙂

I know I’m a bit late to comment but anyway.

My fave vacation movie is Vegas but thats probably because it’s the first one I seen, I recently started watching the show Community which has Chevy Chase in it and he’s brilliant in it.

As for vacations gone wrong I really like the remake of Hills have eyes and I haven’t seen the original. Has anyone here see the Australian movie called Wolf Creek (and yes Jason this is set in the outback) It would be one of the worst road trips ever you guys have to watch it.
