Forgotten Flix

We're talking about the movies YOU grew up with!

Forgotten Flix Podcast: Ep. 009 – The Blob (1988), aka is that a snot rocket in your pocket… or you just happy to see me?

In this episode of The Forgotten Flix Podcast, Jason and Joel discuss the 1988 horror remake of The Blob starring Kevin Dillon and Shawnee Smith.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the show:

—  First, we talk some serious “Flix It or Forget It” in which we hear Jason emoting (loudly) over a seriously good martial arts movie. Then we hear about a handful of movies Joel wishes he could forget.

— Next, we talk The Blob which includes a seriously interesting discussion of the effect that point-of-view has on horror films and our personal level of like/dislike.

— Then we get into the “6 Must See Movies with an Experiment Gone Wrong in a Small Town with Military Intervention and Lots of Deaths…”  Okay.  Seriously, there are a lot, including one of the biggest grossing franchises of all time and a movie with an ending that really sets Joel off like no other (except maybe the Star Wars prequels).

So, check it out and let us know what you think! You can send your feedback to feedback (at) forgottenflix dot com or leave a voice mail message at the number located beneath the VHS tapes.

Tune in next time when we talk about the Superman franchise with resident Superman expert Darrell.  It’s time for some serious Kryptonite discussion.

Oh, boy… I can’t wait to get home from work, load this baby into the mp3 player and go for a long walk.

As always a great episode, guys, and yes Jason, it most definitely had some good laughs. I like that you mention The Andromeda Strain. It was the first book that I read from cover to cover in one sitting. This was in my very early teens… I read it again two years ago and damn if it wasn’t as exciting as it was back then! It was actually better now, since I’m older and “wiser” and understand all the aspects of it more.
Return of the Living Dead – Oh yes! Tar-zombie! Braa-a-a-i-ns! And Linnea Quigley dancing on tombstones… YES!!
Gojira – The one that started the whole franchise. Have it, seen it, loved it! …perry mason… WHO SAID THAT??
And now… The Mist! Like you Joel, I absolutely love the novella and the imagery in it. It’s waaayy better than the movie, BUT… the movie isn’t bad at all. The ending… well… let’s just end the discussion right here, shall we? 🙂

Again, thanks for a fantastic episode and I can hardly wait for the 2-3 hours long Superman-episode.

Great feedback as always Peter! I’m glad you liked it and I (Joel) was the one who kept on about Perry Mason. Love me some old school Raymond Burr is all. 🙂 And yes, very wise to end THE MIST discussion there! 😉

Also, the SUPERMAN episode is only around 1:30, which is kinda amazing since we talked about 5 movies and had a guest on!

Yeah, the old Perry Mason TV show was great, wasn’t it? 🙂
