We're talking about the movies YOU grew up with!

Ep. 017 – The Forgotten Flix Podcast: Commando (1985)

Mall Twin Movie Ad: Commando (1985)In this episode of The Forgotten Flix Podcast, Joel and Jason “go commando”! Wait a sec… okay, everyone’s wearing underwear (well, at least Jason claims he is!), but we get into the nitty gritty that is the 80’s action movie staple COMMANDO! Of course, this ain’t exactly a peaceful discourse on the finer points of Arnie’s flick.

No sirree Bobby!

Let’s just say that Joel filled a legal pad with all the contrivances, plot holes, and ridiculous coincidences that riddle this movie like Arnie’s bullet-spraying frenzy during the movie’s climax!

So, check it out and let them know what you think! You can send your feedback toΒ feedback (at) forgottenflix dot com or leave a voice mail message at the number located beneath the VHS tapes.

Tune in next time when we get down and dirty with Critters (1986) and let you know if they really do bite (or if the movie does)!

I got caught a bit behind on the podcast and haven’t been on the website for awhile but I really liked Just one of the guys, You made it sound pretty good so I had to stop listening before it was too spoiled so I could watch it.
It’s always great to get mentioned on a podcast, as far as a Netflix equivelant in Australia as far as I know there are a couple of companies that send out the discs but there isn’t any live streaming probably due to our prehistoric broadband capabilities. For instance I have ADSL2+ (I don’t know if that means anything to Americans)and the fastest download speed I’ve ever had is 712kb per second.
What’s wrong with Predators apart from Adrian Brodey’s Batman voice? Predator 2 is better than the original in my opinion.
Any chance of you guys doing an episode on No Retreat, No Surrender? that’s one of my favourite guilty pleasure movies ever.

Hi Ben, Glad you liked JOOTG! As for the Netflix dilemma, I wonder if it has more to do with international copyright issues; although the bandwidth issues could definitely explain it. I hope they get whatever the “problem” is worked out as I’m sure you do to. πŸ™‚

As for PREDATORS, I just thought it was all style, no substance. I never felt any connection to the characters, and thus, no real suspense or concern for them. Also, I found the Topher Grace “reveal” just this side of lame (and predictable). Oh, and Brody’s Christian Bale-as-Batman impression was pretty damn grating. But other than that, it was great! πŸ˜‰

Regarding “No Retreat”: I loved that movie too! Not sure when we’ll do it (our movie schedule is filling up fast), but if we don’t get to it this year, I’ll demand it for 2012!
