Ep. 014 – The Forgotten Flix Podcast: Cloak and Dagger (1984)

Mall Twin Ad - Cloak And DaggerIn this episode of The Forgotten Flix Podcast,  Joel and Jason discuss the 1984 kid-spy classic Cloak and Dagger!

It stars Henry Thomas (E.T.) and Dabney Coleman (9 to 5), who plays the uber-cool spy Jack Flack. Listen as the Forgotten Flix boys travel back to their misbegotten youths. And see if you agree with Joel’s “theory” that any kid who tried pulling the crap that Thomas did in C & D would be snatched up by Homeland Security, thrown into the back of a black van, and promptly escorted to Gitmo.

Wow you you guys spoke about Drop Dead Fred and didn’t even mention Rik Mayall… FOR SHAME

On a side note I’m still working through the FF recommendations and watched Cherry 2000 which had a good opening 5 minutes then the rest was pretty lame but I couldn’t turn it off because there was constantly so many stupid scenes I had to keep watching… worst acting ever!

Also watched The Stepfather and I thought that one was pretty good but it felt a bit weird that the girl character was 16 but she got her boobs out.

      Hi Ben,

Well, we’ll just blame Jason for that little omission since it was one of his picks! 😉

I can definitely think of movies with worse acting than Cherry 2000: Troll 2, Plan 9 from Outer Space, and the Academy Award winning Crash.

Boobs or no boobs, I LOVE that movie and can forgive the one “awkward” moment. It was the ’80s after all! 🙂

While a great episode, Jason mentions an editing fail about the tour guide falling out of the boat and then being dry in the next shot. Jason needs either glasses or a bigger tv because the tour guide didn’t fall out of the boat. It was another guy and you can clearly see him still being helped back into the boat while the guide tells the two henchmen to sit down. Granted, both guys were wearing blue shirts, but the shirt of the guy who fell out has a large stripe across the middle.

Good point Todd! But to be fair, when you’re as old as Jason, the mind does tend to slip a bit. 😉
