In this episode Jason and Joel keep it short and sweet.

It’s all about Forgotten Flix’s Spooky Flix Fest ’13, and what it means for Offscript.

Offscript: Episode 012 – The One About Barbarian Queens and Peruvian Russians

Drew_The_Man_Behind_the_Poster-745304606-largeThe Guts

In this episode Jason and Joel discuss Jason’s Corman-movie fetish via Barbarian Queen and whether or not Boris Vallejo is Russian, Peruvian, both… or neither.

And in Trailer Trash we delve into Drew: The Man Behind the Poster, Out of the Furnace, 47 Ronin, and The Monuments Men.

Offscript: Episode 011 – The One About Playing with Our Bad Milo

conjuring-tixThe Guts

In this episode Jason and Joel give a quick review of their recent viewing of The Conjuring and gush a little on their love of classically-styled horror.

Then Joel drops a movie boom-goes-the-dynamite surprise when he admits to watching a movie that Jason has talked and gushed over for a REALLY long time. I know what you’re thinking.  Joel watched a movie that Jason recommended?

It must have a gator-something or mega-whatever, but you would be wrong.  You’ll have to listen to hear what the movie is and what Joel thought.  Will he burst Jason’s bubble or drop his ego and say the rarest words in the English language, “Jason, you were right.”

The trailer trash for this episode goes all kinds of stomach virus when the guys review some crazy good upcoming trailers including Bad Milo, I Declare War, CBGB, and Enough Said.  You NEED to check these out, albeit not while at work, (that whole awkward scene with Julia Louis-Dreyfus kissing James Gandolfini shouldn’t be shown in any office setting.)

Curse of ChuckyThe Guts

In this episode you get a LOT of Trailer Trash talk, including way too much analysis of The Escape Plan, Frankenstein’s Army, and Curse of Chucky (aka Child’s Play 6).

Plus, Jason taunts Joel about The Conjuring and they wade hip deep into a discussion about whether it’s okay for a movie to be “just” entertaining.

All this and OH so much more, so please give it a listen and tell us your thoughts!

The Guts

What started out as an intellectual and civil discussion regarding the ideas presented by  two of the world’s most insightful and successful producer/directors, quickly spirals into an all out whine festival (complete with music).

Jason and Joel talk (complain) about the recent video showing Lucas and Spielberg discussing the future of movie theaters and blockbuster films.  The boys also gush slightly over Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant and their writing chops.

Offscript: Episode 8 – The One About Man of Steel

The Guts

No.  This one isn’t about Jason’s super six pack (ahem…pony keg.) This time the boys both went to see the latest Superman reboot – Man of Steel – on opening weekend so you know they have to talk about it.  The big questions are

1) Did they like it? and

2) Did it hold up to the legacy of Superman III and IV?

You’ll have to listen and hear for yourselves.  There may or may not be some man-gushing over Henry Cavill’s pecs.

The guys also pick through a little trailer trash including a quick sneak peek of Disney’s Frozen (no ski lifts included), Zach Snyder’s upcoming sequel to 300 - 300: Rise of an Empire – and a Thing-esque, post-apocalyptic, polar thriller titled The Colony.

Finally Joel goes gaga for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson‘s latest film Snitch (and Jason is actually intrigued.)

The Guts

KevinMcCarthy-GhastlyLoveIn this installment of Off Script Jason and Joel engage in more upcoming movie trailers like Europa Report and The World’s End. Joel shares his thoughts (since he FINALLY saw them) on Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Attack the Block. He also gives his initial take on Season 4 of Arrested Development.

Jason tells you his thoughts on The Ghastly Love of Johnny X, which he recently reviewed as a guest host on our pal Kevin Bachelder’s Saturday B-Movie Reel podcast.

You get all that and, oh, so much more!

Also, in this episode’s CND Theater, your intrepid (or is that insipid?) Master Thespians try their hand at a REEEEEAL classic. Betcha can’t figure out which one!

Offscript: Episode 6 – The One About The Impossible, The Strangers, Almost Human and Big Movie Money

007The Guts

In this installment of Off Script Jason and Joel cover some movies they’ve seen recently including Jason’s experience with the Smurfs (2011) movie, Joel’s emotional roller coaster watch of The Impossible (2012), and then goes on a rant after seeing The Strangers (2008.)  Then the boys dig deep into the dumpster as the trailer trash starts to fly including the new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Almost Human (and the ultimately more disturbing Almost Human). Finally they wrap up talking about mega Hollywood money including Robert Downey Jr.’s tractor trailer of a salary.

Offscript: Episode 5 – The One About Jersey Shore Shark Attack, Oblivion CGI, John Williams, and (yes, even more) Star Wars Talk

Ep-005The Guts

In this installment of Off Script Jason and Joel dig deep (I mean REEEEEAL deep) as they discuss Joel’s inability to stomach the 87 minute running time of the SyFy classic, Jersey Shore Shark Attack.

They also discuss the newish sci-fi film, Oblivion, and why Joel now believes CGI may, in fact, be more than a passing fad. Jason explores his man love of John Williams, and your daring duo goes on yet another Star Wars rant discussion. It all comes to a messy climax with an all new CND Theater. Good luck figuring this one out!

But just in case you think you know which movie we’re bastardizing this week, please send your CND Theater guess to jason@offscriptpodcast.com.

Offscript: Episode 4 – The One About B Movies…That is All

04-syfy_mm_mega_piranha_by_randoman92-d3etklwThe Guts

In this installment of Off Script Joel loses his SyFy virginity to one of Jason’s favorite new creature features, Mega Piranha, starring Tiffany and Barry Williams. This cinematic showdown has been brewing for a long time. Jason’s love of cheesey creature feature B movies and Joel’s love of making fun of Jason. Who will prevail? Listen in to hear for yourself.

After the cheese-fest the boys also talk about a couple of new trailers including R.I.P.D. and this past weekend’s Michael Bay flick Pain & Gain. They cap it off with a little A.D.D. Top 10 and an attempt to list 10 vehicles as characters in TV or Movies thanks to Jason Pyles of the Movie Podcast Weekly. Can we make the list in 3:00 minutes? Can we even get through half of the list? Can Airwolf really be considered a character?

NOTE: Don’t forget to send in your guesses from last episode’s CND Theater.

Offscript: Episode 2 – The One About Jurassic Park, Books-to-Movies, God-freaking-Zilla and the 1st A.D.D. Top 10

002-jurassic_park-1024x640The Guts

What starts out as a simple discussion about the announcement of the director for Jurassic Park 4 leads the doofuses (doofi?) down a Spielberg-esque memory lane and a fairly heated discussion about book-to-movie translations. Joel also dangles a meat stick in front of the Jason tiger when he brings up the newest remake of Godzilla and actually causes him to drool. There is also an “amazing” spoiler for a new Vacation movie. The one trailer they cover brings out a mention of On Golden Blonde and Forrest Gulp. Finally the boys attempt their first A.D.D. Top 10. Do you think they can complete Top 10 list? Seriously?! Have you ever heard these guys? Tune in and find out.

Square Logo 1

Editor’s Note: Join your favorite comedy podcast chumps, Jason and Joel, as they go totally “off script” and take you into the minds of two of the most scatterbrained movie/TV nerds you’ll ever meet with all the shenanigans and tomfoolery you can handle.

From 60s sci-fi cheese and 80s nostalgia, to today’s billion dollar blockbusters and independent unknowns, they’ll bring you the flickering myths like you’ve never heard. Join them for CND (Cinematic Nostalgia Disorder) Theater, the ADD Top 10, and the ever entertaining Trailer Trash. If you don’t give yourself at least one facepalm per episode, they’re not doing their jobs.

This inaugural episode is featured here on Forgotten Flix to get you all hooked.  Think of it as audio crack.  The first one is here and free but the rest of the episodes will be on the new site, OffScriptPodcast.com and iTunes. (Actually they’ll be free too but you’ll pay for it emotionally.)

Strap in and enjoy.

The Guts

It’s finally here.  The very first episode of Off Script with the boys, Jason and Joel.  In this, their first episode Jason and Joel talk about some of the features of the show and why they’re doing it.  Because, you know, they need to justify this kind of crap.  After giving the 411 on the show, they jump right into a couple of recent movie trailers including Disney’s Lone Ranger starring Johnny Depp and James Wan‘s The Conjuring (which scared the ca-ca out of Jason.) As always, the trailers are included below.

CND Theater

Cinematic Nostalgia Disorder never sounded so ridiculous. Listen to the boys as they amaze and awe you with their unparalleled thespianism skills by reading lines from a classic movie.  If you think you know the movie (that is if you can actually listen to the entire thing), send your guesses in to Jason at Jason@offscriptpodcast.com.  Make sure you put “CND Theater” in the subject line and include the episode number in your guess.  All correct answers will be put into a drawing to be crowned geek of the month.
